Q4W9: May 23, 2022

 HAPPY LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL

NOTE: If your student misses any day during the last week of school, they may not take any assessments early and will receive a zero for any missed assignments. 


What to expect for Q4W9:


Math: Students will continue coordinate grids and prepare for their test on Friday.

Language Arts: 
  • Literature - Students will finish The Princess and the Goblin. They will be working on annotating. They will continue looking for examples in their books.
  • Grammar Students will take a quiz over predicate nominatives and adjectives. They will be working on a grammar review in preparation.
  • Writing - Students will continue with their poetry unit. They will learn about diamante and lymeric poems and combine them together in a portfolio.
History: Students will finish their unit on Texas History

W4W8 - May 16, 2022

What to expect for Q4W8:


Math: Students will be learning coordinate graphs and working on their review for their unit test on the last day of school. 

Language Arts: 
  • Literature - Students will continue reading he Princess and The Goblin, through chapter 29. They will be working on annotating. They will continue looking for examples in their books.
  • Grammar - Students will continue working with action and linking verbs, predicate nominatives, and they will begin learning predicate adjectives.
  • Writing - Students will continue working on their poetry unit, working on metaphors, haikus, and couplets.
Science: Students will be comparing various life cycles of organisms and reviewing for their test on Structures and Functions of Living Things

Math: Students will be continuing working with data and begin converting with measurements.

Language Arts: 
  • Literature - Students will continue reading he Princess and The Goblin, through chapter 23. They will be working on annotating. They will continue looking for examples in their books.
  • Grammar - Students will reviewing content learned throughout the year, and begin going over linking verbs.
  • Writing - Students will continue working on their poetry unit.
History: Students will be continuing their unit on Texas history, learning about Texas Statehood, and reviewing the state song.

Math: Students be working on organizing data.

Language Arts: 
  • Literature - Students will continue reading he Princess and The Goblin, through chapter 16. They will be working on annotating. They will continue looking for examples in their books.
  • Grammar - Students will learning double negatives and reviewing verb tenses.
  • Writing - Students will finishing their final draft of their personal narratives by Wednesday. Students with be practicing with different types of poetry.
Science: Students will be learning about human and animal senses and plant responses.

Language Arts: 
  • Literature - Students will continue reading he Princess and The Goblin, through chapter 16. They will be working on annotating. They will continue looking for examples in their books.
  • Grammar - Students will learning and reviewing verb tenses. 
  • Writing - Students will begin continuing working on their personal narratives. They will be writing second drafts, peer editing, and drawing rough draft pictures.
History: Students will be continuing Texas History, focusing on the Texas Revolution

  • Grammar - Students will be reviewing concepts learned in grammar throughout the year. They will be working with regular and irregular verbs.
  • Writing - Students will begin continuing working on their personal narratives.
Science: Students will be continuing their unit on structures and functions of living things, focusing on functions and traits in animals and plants.

Language Arts: 
  • Literature - Students will continue reading he Princess and The Goblin. They will be working on annotating. They will continue looking for examples in their books.
  • Grammar - Students will be continuing to work on editing passages and practicing when to use commas.
  • Writing - Students will begin writing their personal narratives, practicing adding descriptive detail and figurative language.
History: Students will be reviewing the content learned so far in Texas History for a unit test at the end of the week.
